HAPPY HALLOWEEN

A day off from the grind and my friend Carol and I met for lunch!! I just can't get used to this weather! One of my favourite 70s jackets, over a vintage wool waist coat and a fab skirt that I got from Nicole Farhi sample sale a million years ago!! BUT it is just too warm!

After that I popped up the road and thought I'd show you a little example of some of the charity shop windows doing their little Halloween displays!! From books to masks to skeletons to scary masks......

Well some may think that this posting is a tad macabre but I feel that I really want to put the pictures in. I went with my sis Julie to the cemetery to see my ma and pa today. It was such a typical Autumn day. The leaves are turning such wonderful colours. You know it is unbelievable that a cemetery is a place of calm and reflection with wildlife running around which perhaps gives it a sense of being alive. Maybe that mixes with all the happy memories I have of them both..... and although it is always sad I was so glad that I could visit. A friend of mine Mina did her thesis on cemetery art and sculpture very interesting and beautiful!

So today was a 70s heavy crimson wrap, she did her job and kept the draughts out!

So what a lovely Autumn day to pop down to The Fox Pub in Hanwell to see my lovely friend Val who was taking part in a craft/food fair at her local pub THE FOX PUB! I was having a 80s retro day with one of my favourite playsuits and mohair cardi coat! A proper post to come about the fair!!

Val persuaded me to have a go selling some of my little handicrafts..... so here goes..... BETTY ZEE HANDICRAFTS is now in major full production!! EKKKKK!

So apologies for the shaky nature of the picture! Edith the lovely lady who was helping that day in Oxfam was very sweet and agreed to take the picture. But wasn't sure how to use the camera! At least she managed to shoot it and then got a bit flustered! Thanks anyway Edith!

Okay .... so this little woolen cape is keeping me warm! Worn over a 70s maxi skirt and polo neck! But I wonder if I am looking like a mad cat women!! You know the little lady you see in the street who looks a bit eccentric and every so slightly 'not with us'.... mind you the cape got a few comments as well as the little felt flower brooch that I made!! Hmmmm another posting to come!

Well it is as I said earlier Cowichan time and I am in the middle of putting together a little posting about my cowichan collection...

In the meantime this little number keeping me warm is one of my latest finds! OMG!.... I thought when I was rooting around my local charity shop last weekend.... there she was just waiting to be found..... so I looked at the price OMG! again £6.00 .... I didn't even try it on..... took it up to the counter and the lovely lady said ... ' this will keep you warm dear' I said 'yes I love this cardi' as I said that she said 'oh my dear there seems to be a bit of a grease mark, I am sooo sorry! I will knock a pound off for you' Now she put that straight into the till before I could say 'COWICHANTASTIC!' I spend so much money there I figured they will make that pound up when I come in next!!!

SO here she is all washed and keeping me warm over a 50s dress! Perhaps the pic would have been better if I had had my scarf on as well! But not to worry.... the two ladies were teamed with some vintage jewellery, one of my most favourite late 60s early 70s rings from a little collection I found in a local carboot ( I have them in cream, green, orange, blue!), a yellow 50s necklace and one of my favourite vintage Mexican silver bracelets with abalone! Now don't you ever fly away little butterfly!! x

The Big Fest - Uxbridge 2011

Well what a lovely surprise I had when I popped to Uxbridge on Sunday The Big Fest was on.

Imagine my surprise when I was met by this Victorian chap on a penny farthing!! With a little suitcase playing music from it! Everybody was laughing and what a wonderful sight!! The festival's theme was Victorian Music Halls and the Circus..... everything you could imagine, a chap spinning the decks with a top hat to children learning about the then new gadgets such as The Praxinoscope and The Thaumatrope!!! There were also puppeteers walking around, chimney sweep lads looking rather confused by my camera and the 21st Century, a weird little machine with horns and cymbals being honked and hit! Also traditional hand wound merry-go-round, coconut shires and lots of horse chestnuts being eatten (even a little early by Christmas standards)!!! Funnily enough all outside a traditional sweet shop..... of course it would have been rude not to pop in!!!

What a wonderful happy sight to behold!!
