Fashion Drawings in Vogue by Carl Erickson by William Packer

BOOK OF THE WEEK

There has been a huge upsurge of interest in fashion illustration recently, with exhibitions and books published on the subject. I have quite a few books and original illustrations from 1890s upwards which I will post in the coming weeks. As fahsion illustration combines two of my loves, fashion and art I am espically passionate about it! I believe that these 'illustrations' stand up in their own right as art! Infact many artists especially in the past all had brushes with fashion! From Andy Warhol to Salvador Dali. This is a great book by William Packer showing the work that the amazing Erikson did over the years.

What are you wearing today Betty Zee? 8th March 2011

As Susan said 'today is your casual day' ... I love the print on this 50s skirt! Very usual vintage 50s print on brushed cotton so lovely and warm! And to top it off my little 70s sparkly jumper... (only trouble is you can't see it in the picture!)
So you would think that it was getting warmer but no if anything it is getting colder... oh dear typical British girl talking about the weather....!

VINTAGE RETRO PRINT TINA J H Lynch

I've decided to start passing on (selling) some of my dear retro prints. I have far to much stuff and sometimes you just have to face the fact you can't have everything that you want!! I don't have the space, room or walls to keep everything. A nice chap called Tony bought this lovely print off of moi, he has also bought this Lou Shabner one as well (see here) .... he does have great taste!

These retro prints are getting even more collectible! I know Wayne Hemmingway bought out a great book called 'Above the Mantelpiece'.... I met him once and chewed the fat about these fab pictures...

If you want to know more about this fab 60s artist and his work take a quick look click and also here to have a look at retro 60s prints some of which I have had and passed on through the years....

What are you wearing today Betty Zee? 4th March 2011

Well the estate agent was doing her 3 monthly check on Betty Zee towers to make sure that I hadn't had Banksy around to 'do' some art on the walls or I had not knocked down a wall to make the kitchen bigger!!! Thank you to her for taking the pictures this afternoon!!

A lovely little late 70s denim number!!

What are you wearing today Betty Zee 3rd March 2011

What are you wearing today Betty Zee 2nd March 2011

All pictures done a little bit quickly in a little changing room in one of my charity shops!!! Let me explain.... half day at work to enable me to rush to get my Katy car that had actually passed her MOT! Anyone who has a car never really rests on the day of an MOT! Not unlike waiting in a waiting room to hear that all is okay with the arrival of a new baby or for me ...going to the dentist and hearing that all is okay no fillings or that the tooth has been successfully taken out (remember my visit to the dental hospital) you want to jump up and down but just sign a HUGH sigh of relief!! I picked up Katy and though I would do a little trip to a charity shop I know down the road for the photo shoot!!! Again the pictures aren't brilliant as I was so busy.... hence the fitting room fashion shoot!!

A 50s dress and little 50s mohair cardi... and a little pink and silver 50s choker!

POP BOUTIQUE LONDON

Now if there is one Vintage/Retro shop that you should visit if you come to London or live here that has to be POP BOUTIQUE!! Regulars (like me!) refer to it as POP! It has grown over the years and has shops all over the country as well as overseas!! Staff are ALWAYS friendly and down to earth... non of this snobby I'm too VINTAGE to talk to you darling shinanagins that you have in other such shops!! I can tell you I have visited loads in my time and it is always a pleasure visiting and spending my dosh and NEVER a chore!! So keep your hats on and your new season denium on and have a look you won't be disappointed I can tell you..... selling everything vintage and retro from lamp and lampshades, crockery, retro prints, jewellery, cards, vintage fabric, cushions, glassware, belts, ties, jeans, dresses, tops the list just goes on. Pop has it's on label where items such as dresses are reworked!! Now.... I shall stop going on!! Just take a look! You can even order on line... but would be great to pop into POP and become a regular!! LIKE ME!!!
